    Hi all,

    What I have:

    1. A PC with an Ethernet connection to a Rangemax Wireless Router
    2. 3 laptops connected via wi-fi to the wireless router.
    3. Several Android phones connected via wi-fi to the wireless router.
    4. An Android Tablet (well originally a HP Web OS tablet but it was quickly 'upgraded' ;) ) connected via wi-fi to the wireless router.
    5. A 50mb fibre optic broadband supply from UPC wired into the Rangemax Wireless Router.

    What I want:

An app which will allow my android devices to stream movies from the PC and/or laptops.

I thought the AirDroid app was what I needed or maybe XBMC but I'm not sure that's correct.

I need simplicity and basic functionality over customisation and options.

    Help???

    Ben

Set up a standard share on your PC. Put your movies in there.

Install Estrongs File Manager on your Android devices.

Type in the Share details (IP, username, password), it'll remember those so you only need to do this once.

    Browse the share.

Click a movie and play it.

That'll work grand if all the devices are on the same network.

If you want to browse your server from another site something like Plex will work. It's a bit more complicated though (obviously as you have to worry about firewalls etc.)

Install TVERSITY on the PC (or all of them)

This gives you a streaming DLNA hub from your PC.

Then you can install any DLNA browser on your Android phones/tablets..

I use Media House - Works really well and allows you to download the media direct to your phone if you want to watch away from the WIFI network...
