I'm looking for inspiration for my boys bedroom
Its a large room, with a big window nearly 7ft but window facing north so room is never full of light. At the moment the room is painted blue on 3 walls(dulux spring sky ) white on the window wall -(not a great colour choice for a north facing room but you live and learn) I want to make the place a bit cosier and give it a bit of style. The floor is an oak colour laminate.
I had thought of adding a cream stripe at the top and the bottom of the wall but both wardrobe and bed are white.
Any suggestions for a good colour or some sites where i might get ideas

Houzz.com is a great source if ideas, the app is actually better than the website. Just enter your search criteria, such as 'boys room' and it will show you 100s photos.

I think definitely lighten the paint, it will brighten the room and make it look bigger. I'd also consider putting a mirror of some kind on a wall opposite the window to reflect light. You could paint the boys room magnolia (neutral colour) and decorate the room with boyish accessories, curtains and bed clothes. Next still have a sale on I think, so there would be ideal for all that stuff. Definitely take the blue off the window sills and maybe match the colour of your flooring or paint them white.

Thank you for your detailed reply, Was looking at a green maybe Crown have one called oxygen, but afraid of spend loads of time and money painting and then it not looking right!
Maybe I could add a painted design to the walls by way of spots or bubbles?

Will look into adding a mirror opposite the window! Great idea

Light grey and white/off white can be a good combination.

Do one wall grey to make a contrast to the white, then decorate the room with duvet and window colours that match each other and that also suit a boy.

Buy a few sampler pots from the paint trade shops and paint some A4 sheets of paper with them.

Then with a lump of "blu-tak",stick them up onto the various walls, and you can view them in natural daylight, and also at night, under the rooms ceiling light.

Thats what we did with our entire house.

Builder and Painter did the usual "magnolia/white" finish.
So we went a bit mad and whacked on loads of different colours throughout the house.:)

PS-You will pick up boys bedroom/duvet and curtain sets in both Argos and Homestore & More for feck all euros at the moment.

    Hiya Robin,

In the middle of decorating my wee mans room too and was at a total loose end ( girls rooms are soon much easier )
Have decided to go for blue and off white on the walls. Dulux Holiday Blues 5 to window cill height and cotton white from there up. Deciding on the accent colour was done for me cause I ordered some old style Marvel comic metal wall signs and super hero colours are mainly blue, yellow and red ( who would have known !!! ) So I am putting up blue gingham curtains (home store plus more ) with red black out roller blinds. The bedding will be either blue, white, Fireman Sam, or Thomas the Tank for the moment but the colour scheme should work for a good few years till he wants to paint the walls black or something....
Am also going to pick up some basic cheap wooden shelves and shadow boxes and paint them in my colours.
Another tip I picked up along the way was to buy large picture frames and put posters of their current fav character into them. Change as necessary and no paint pulled off the wall with blue tack..

If you have an IPad load up the Houzz app, a lot of American styles

    HTH

Thanks, I'm thinking of going with a football theme (should have some lasting time)
    Came across this http://www.heymama.ie/fun-wall-stickers-c-41/room-makeover-kit-football-p-277
and think I'll use this, light green at bottom, blue top and stickers
Stickers are vbig, goal is nearly a metre, so hope it won't be too much, think my little man will love it though. The stickers seem to be/claim to be good quality and removable/repositionable so hope the walls will remain intact

Great idea about the frames too
