Sky are having a "Weekend Pass" this coming Friday 20nd July @ 6am to Sunday 22nd @ Midnight.

This means Sky customers will get ALL Sky Sports channels including the F1 channel free for the weekend. Not sure about ESPN but I assume that will be included as it's free to Sky Sports subscribers here in Ireland.

BBC have the rights to the open golf. No football. No anything. What's the point?

Thats why its free, trying to entice new customers when all they have next weekend is the FI Race.

Going by sky's web site you can only view the f1 channel in the uk hope this is not the case

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12040/7178416/Free-weekend

    * Sky Sports F1 channel only available to Sky TV customers and Virgin Media customers in the UK

There is Super 15 Rugby union, Super Rugby League and Test Cricket. So FI is not all they have.

So it is NOT FREE. You cannot get it without paying money to Sky.

He certainly did not know what "free" means.

    You should've known anyway.

    And now you've learned something.

They normally offer this in Sept or Oct time. Usually a weekend where the live football games do not feature many of top sides. Its good for watching NFL though.

Question: If I set to record some programmes on the free weekend, will they be there on Tues to watch?

The good news is......they will :)

The bad news is you will have to subscribe to the sports package to watch them :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,140 ✭✭✭John mac

    not necessarily :

last time it was on i recorded some NFL games in hd and was able to watch them 3 weeks later. (no hd pack or sports pack)

I think it was about 18 months ago when Sky had a free movies weekend. A lot of people had their sky box hard drives in overtime trying to take advantage but it was all in vain :D

I honestly cant see them allowing recorded content to be viewed after the event. Even when you downgrade a package you loose out.

i remember that too, i recorded Caroline it was on the box for over a year and still viewable.

Are you sure Sky weren't still taking money from your bank account without you knowing it? ;)

A lot of family and friends (including myself) recorded some movies at the time but couldn't watch them after the weekend

most definitely :D just have the almost basic eur 32 per month pack.
I dont have even the hd pack. (wont pay extra for it )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,552 ✭✭✭✭muffler

I'm paying them €44.50 a month at the moment. €29.50 of that is for the basic pack with sports and the €15 for multi-room (2 teenagers to cater for :( ) but my half price subscription expires on 18 August so I have to ring them tomorrow and give them 31 days notice of cancelling.

It will be interesting to see if they make me another offer or not.

Muffler: What identification do they ask for when you contact them? Customer number or sky card no?

Either card or account number will be asked for but which ever one you have handy will do.

Anytime I have rang in the past I was asked for the card or account number together with confirming my address, mother's maiden name and first 2 letters of password (if you have a password on your account)

Just a heads up to everyone.
Free Sky Sports including F1 this weekend.
ESPN and ESPN America are not included.

    It was on page 2.
Some people might have missed the original post or thought ESPN was in the offer and F1 was not included.

    Just trying to be helpful.

What do you mean page 2? It was on Page 1. Can't see how people would think ESPN was in the offer as title thread is clear and Sky have done this before with no ESPN.

No it was on page 2.
Do you think I'm lying ?
    For what benefit ?

I bumped it up because people might have missed it.

What part of 'just trying to help' don't you understand?

Apologies and I certainly don't think you're lying but (maybe I'm thick!) still can't understand what you mean by being on page 2 when title of thread is on page 1 and is a post 2 days later really bumping up a thread?
