    Hi Everyone,

Looking for some advice about my work situation, and I shall vent also.

I have this pain of a boss, he's arrogant, has never done any business course and has no people skills and has no idea how to run the company he's trying to the last two years.

I've worked for 2 of the top ten biggest companies in the world, all of which i have thoroughly enjoyed for the best of 6 years.

I recently took this job as a step in the right direction to where i wanna be on my career change.

I was routing through our email on one of our two computers we use and i came across an email with meeting notes attached in which i was mentioned.

    Word for word it reads like this;
There had been some complaints about the service provided by XX

Now i've worked with the public for the last 16 years of my life and have had no problems/issues/complaints made against me.

I'm in two minds of whether it is actually a customer, or if its the boss sly'ly try to get me to leave as he has no reason to fire me.

It's not just me at work, everybody at work cannot stand the sight of this guy who's ultimately driving the place into the ground.

Should i confront both my Manager and Boss about this comment in the meeting notes??

If so do i have a right to know who made the complaint?

And should he decide not to tell me how am i suppose to change/rectify the situation??

It's very hard to approach this guy about anything as the company i work for is not very professional and everybody is 'mates' so there's no line where professionalism starts and ends.

I'd appreciate any input guy, i couldnt sleep last night and have to run the place today and the boss will be in tomorow and im afraid i'll explode if he says the slightest thing to me tomorrow.

    Much Appreciated

First off - sorry to hear you're having a major issue in work.

Secondly - it's generally 'them' and not you!

Thirdly - stay calm and start being strategic! If they already started recording notes on 'complaints' about you, you should start a work diary - it sounds stupid, but believe me - it'll help no end. Record times, incidents (no matter how trivial), and try to encourage dialogue between your managers manager and yourself.

Lastly, I've been pushed out of three jobs through lies, fake complaints etc. I thought it was me. Ok - it kinda was! I have a direct personality that doesnt suit people who need egos massaged. I thought I would never work again to be honest, but now work in an office with two of the most awesome people ever. Yes, I still **** up the odd time, I still get the head bitten off me, but after the issue is dealt with, it's back to work! We have a great time in work - a rare thing for most! I guess my point is, that maybe this person isnt the right person to work for. While you might love the job - remember it's the people that will drive you mad. I got very ill after one job fell apart three years ago - like, extremely ill - I promised myself that it would never ever happen again.

Good luck with everything and remember to record everything and play whatever political game you need to play. Or quit before the people drive you insane.

Really and truly wish you luck!

Just a couple of things struck me from your post. You can take or leave these comments but they are objective based on what you've posted:

    1) It seems to me you made a huge mistake moving to work for a company and an individual that were culturally very different to what you were used to. Would the differences not have been very apparent at interview stage ?

    2)
I've worked for 2 of the top ten biggest companies in the world
he's arrogant, has never done any business course and has no people skills

The above comes off as quite arrogant on your part and it sounds like you have a lot of "issues" personally with him and your perception of both your backgrounds. A lot of it may be down to "cultural" differences (as in 1. above).

    3) Re. the complaints, the way your post reads you seem quite defensive from the get go - a bit like you feel your performance should not be questioned? Maybe the complaints were crank complaints, or maybe they -had some validity in them. If it were me I would definitely want to get to the bottom of it and find out the specifics. "I came across this, I want to fix it, what are the specific details?". If you are a professional you should be able to park any personal issues you have with the guy himself and focus on the issue of the complaints themselves.

Hope the above is of some help, as I said its just some objective first impressions from reading your post.

Was the email addresses to you if it wasn't then should you have been reading it?

Unlikely - but if you weren't ment to read is was it left their for you to "find" and make a complaint about and then get fired for routing through other peoples email?

Disregard this post if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

If you plan on staying in this company, don't stir **** unless you can handle the repercussions.

Also, be honest with yourself and be really, really, sure your **** don't stink.

I have worked in management and in my experience it is amazing how deluded people are.

Thanks for all the replies so far everybody.

1: I know i've made a mistake moving to this company but i could not go back to my old employer after my career break due to the economic downturn (and due to robots if im honest :) )

I could not have possibly known the company was this bad when i interviewed. I had completed 3 months training with them 6 months previous and i thought a lot about the place. And i was headhunted for the position too, and to be honest i'd earn more sitting on the couch drawing the dole but dont want to.

2: With regards to having personal issues with my boss we dont, its purely his ego and peoples skills thats the problem. eg. Its a small company and he's decided to have meetings with just himself and the manager excluding the other 3 in the same dept. Completely illogical of him!

3: I'm not one to take offense straight away to be honest, ive calmed down a lot in 12 hours. I have had a ''complaint'' about me before, and i had a meeting with him to try and resolve it 5 months ago, and would not give me any details about it whatsoever. I'm pretty sure it was because he heard one side of a story in which the other party of which whom he lives with, he never asked me what happened, just assumed i was in the wrong. I still dont know to this day who it was but im pretty sure it was this complaint.

I have asked a few people in the company have they ever heard anybody complain about me and they said not a single complaint - infact i have been reccommended by some of them to work for another company who needs help. I may just take the next offer!

    Thanks for your reply

just to clear it up, we have two computer in our office currently, the 4 of us use both of them so its not confidential information.

I have already thought of the fact they may be planting it there to see if i will say anything about it but im not that dim-witted.

I have been reviewing these meeting notes once a week as this meeting is held on one of my days off and its not the first time ive had to hold myself back stormimg up to my boss' office and blow up!

    thanks for your reply
