Hey, I know this may sound weird but well, some stories are weird :D

Anyways, I am still a learner but I am doing driving test soon and I got job to start in September which pays well (web developer/programmer) and I decided to earn money until next summer for new car. So I am just thinking ahead and roughly coming up with list of cars I like or would want, as I am currently on 1.2 I don't want next year to switch to like 3.0 or even 4.0L I decided to go to only 2.0.
So here is my list, I wanna hear pros and cons you heard of these cars and perhaps have a feedback.

    1) BMW 320d (3 series).
    2) Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII or IX.
    3) Audi TT (I don't care that some consider it a girly car, car is a car, not that I am gonna buy pink audi TT) .

I know my choice may make you think I am one of those punks who breaks law all the time and causes accidents, but no, yes I am young 19 year old, but I have no intension in racing or doing some other mad stuff, it's just that I have never heard too much bad about these cars.

So yeah, or can someone suggest something else?

There's an insane amount of difference between those cars and from the list it seems like you picked them at random.

One is a 2L diesel, one is a ~300bhp performance car you've no hope getting insured on until you're 25+, and one is a practically 2 seater "sports car" (mid-life crisis car) with 180 - 220bhp, which again you'll likely have insurance issues at 20 with little NCB.

I can't see any common link between the cars at all, and picking a car by going "I have money, I want that one" is not always a good move.

well i know, but just out of interest I checked with my insurance, and they said they would insure me for audi tt 1.8l no problem even if I get it as learner (which i wont), they said I can go higher if I want to, but they suggested that I pass driving test first then prices wont be so insane. So i wouldn't really think about insurance not insuring me for 2.0 unless by saying higher they meant max 1.9L
So yeah let's just cross out all common possible problems such as high rates.

they only want to take as much as possible.

Tbh OP whats the car actually used for, leisure commuter or showing off ?

buy the cheapest pile of junk you can ( providing its road legal & safe ) and drive it into the ground per say...

with money saved over buying somethign decent, use that " extra " cash to buy something slightly better, then trade that off something slightly better...

don't throw money at cars, majority can be money pits here they want to be ( *insert alfa joke here* ).

If you're from a wealthy background and can spare the expense then by all means, go get a evo... if the petrol price doesn't kill you... you're right foot will.

    Your "only" going to get a 2 liter ? and not a 3L or 4L ?

because ireland is really riddled with V6 and V8 turbocharged muscle cars that are in great demand................

seriously high hopes there with the choice of cars.

im sure you've thought of buying a jeep too op ?

    landrover or bmw maybe ?

    again dont bother with them.

    nice simple saloon or hatchback.

nothing wrong with a mazda full stop, or the 1.6 diesel s40 volvo / 1.8 petrol.

    Ford Mondeo / focus ? VW passat / bora / golf ?

Honestly Audi TT and Lancer will be very expensive to run and insure (of course your company is going to support you, ! they want your money)

The BMW 320D a wise choice for a great car but lots of up keep required and looking after, not like a jap box that just keeps going.

    anyway, good luck
