One last thing I am confused about

hey, seems like I have pretty much understood everything to this point, last thing I been bugged with for past month is few questions relating traffic light.

    1) Could I apply saying like if it doesn't show red - go ahead?
I mean when junction has like 2 traffic light sets for 1 way, say the left one says green but the other one stays turned off neither red or green, can I proceed?

    2) Why two seperate traffic light sets? Why not combine all 5 into 1 big long traffic light tower? As in why do they have traffic lights like:
    XX
    XXX
    XXX
    Why not have like:
    X
    X
    X
    X
    X
    X

    or something like that?

    3) aa5acef6.jpg

This traffic light is in the finglas, on a turn where you turn right and go up the hill to old finglas road. It has new apartments block on left side.
basically I was first confused about it then just got used (still not sure if I was right or no).
Basically when in mornings I sometimes with to turn right, I stay on right lane as I should, then there is oncoming traffic and light appears as that, I can't go right because there is oncoming traffic, yet when it clears people behind me beep me and I just decide to lash forward as there is no other traffic oncoming, is that right? does solid green mean all lanes can proceed if traffic allows to?
Because few days ago I asked about traffic lights and I was told each traffic lights set is dedicated to specific lane, so technically I should be like standing and waiting for green arrow (which I did before, until got beeped on).
So both, it doesnt say green arrow so I can go, nor it says red that I must wait, so wtf?

I understand though when green arrow comes up I can move easily as oncoming traffic is stopped so is the other two lanes.

Here was an awkward situation today:
Basically I was on this ****ty junction (always hated it).
And I somehow happened to cross a line before traffic light, I was crossing it when it was green, yet there was traffic coming so I stopped bit on yellow box, there was lots of ppl driving so I didn't get chance, in a second I notice lights change and the traffic rushes from side where i indend to turn, seeing as I am blocking their way I reversed back (no one was behind, I checked few times).
When that traffic passed, I got really confused there so I went when green was showing on that side where i wanted to turn (just seeing as I already passed a line behind which I was supposed to be for red, so I really didn't pay attention to lights then, I just waited for all traffic to clear and safe to turn and quickly drove through, no one was there.

So yeah, what should I have done?
How many rules did I break?

    4) If I am behind line of traffic light, I can proceed as soon as traffic is clear everywhere?

    Accompanied driver:
Long story short, many may have seen my posts about 2 of my friends which accompany me, the one that's okay and actually teaches stuff left ireland, the one who is annoying, doesn't drive by rules and didnt do test in ireland is left, so I have him there, I asked him just to sit there and talk to me about other stuff but not traffic related and don't press anything (as he was clicking hazard lights and other sutff, he's just weird and loves clicking things which create dangerous situations for me) but as I have no choice I chose him just to fill in: "Be accompanied by person who held license for at least 2 years).

So yeah, I have to learn everything myself, this guy always says if not sure just go (which seems bit extreeme for me)

    Damn that's long stuff.

    Ignore what? Traffic lights? seriously?
Or do you mean those who are beeping?

Where there is more than one set of traffic lights , if the main set has a green full light you can proceed straight or right as long as there is no oncoming traffic. You do not need to wait for the green filter/arrow light as long as it clear to go . If you wait when there is a full green and no traffic coming and you want to turn right you will be given at least a grade 2 fault. Also as youhave already stated if main light is red and filter/arrow is green then ok to go. But as with all green lights it always means proceed with caution.

My apologies for not making myself clear, it was late. Anyone who beeps a learner driver should be treated with the contempt they deserve and ignored. I will leave the rules of the road etc. to the experts.

In fairness though if any driver is waiting for a green filter light when it is unnecessary to do so it is quite acceptable to give a small beep to move things on (regardless of whether the driver is a learner or not). When a Learner Driver applies for a Learner Permit they sign a section saying they are familiar with the Rules of the Road (and therefore should know the rules relating to filter lights). While it is important for other motorists to be patient, spending a lot of time unnesessarily queuing at busy junctions can be frustrating for them.

PS - you opening post is way too long and complicated and most viewers will lose the will to live half way through it. I suggest doing it again into one simple paragraph with no more that 2 questions. You should have a better response.

There are also incredibly impatient drivers who can be behind you and who beep at you and encourage you to complete the turn whilst it is totally unsafe to do so. It happened me recently when I was turning right (no green arrow just green light) and someone began beeping me as two cars travelling from opposite side were turning left, which you would think would create a suitable gap - however, traffic behind those cars decided to speed up and overtake them. Long story short I allowed myself to be bullied into making a bad decision, I accelerated and completed the turn with no time to spare before one of the cars that sped up almost ploughed into me. Learned my lesson though and will never succumb to pressure again to make a manouvre unless it's safe.

What I can't figure out is, if you proceed into the box for turning, and your light then goes red, what do you do if the opportunity to turn right doesn't arrive while the light is red...you've gone into the turning box while you were permitted to, so how can it be your fault if no suitable gap occurs while you're waiting there? Or is it a case that you will always get a window of a couple of seconds as the lights will have to go red for traffic on opposite side?

Yeah I think I learned this now, pretty much:
If there is a direction you want to turn, you stand in proper lane, then if arrow shows to that direction you can go ahead, if it's completely off and only 1 solid green light is on, you can do only if traffic is clear.
    Seems easy enough now
