Prospective Marriage Visa (Australia)

Hi guys, bit of a weird one for ye.

I came here to Australia on a prospective marriage visa, which stipulated that I marry my fiancé, an Australian citizen, before July 7, which I did. It also said "you are expected to apply for permanent residency before the expiration of your visa", which was July 7, and though I did get married, I haven't been able to apply for permanent residency (it costs over AU$900). Does anyone know what the story is, am I fcuked?

The email didn't say "you MUST apply for residency" but "you are expected to."

I only realised this on friday night because I misread the email when I read it the first time, so I won't be able to do anything about it until tomorrow.
I realise I should have been more careful, but I just can't explain how I missed it. Total Brainfart.

    Any advice would be appreciated.
