Number Plate LED bulbs

I'm looking for number plate LEDs which aren't too bright...

I previously purchased a pair of LED number plate bulbs for my car. They have 6 LEDs in each bulb and they are way too bright. They light up the ground underneath the rear bumper, which doesn't look good in my opinion.

So, I was thinking of replacing them with these LED bulbs by Philips:

They only have 1 LED in each bulb.

    What do you think?

€35 for 2 LEDs seems a tad steep

    maybe to you........

I have €35! But for something that's not specifically designed to be a number plate bulb, I don't see the value in them - especially considering how little an LED actually costs.

    Normal C5W bulb = ~€0.80
    Phillips C5W LED bulb = €17.42

Price premium for an LED festoon bulb = 2177%.

    I guess you're right MidlandsM!

Does it prevent the taking of photos of the car number plate?

Most of which are useless, burn out after no time, or cause error lights. I'm assuming these phillips ones are actually decent which is why the extortionate price

Yes true but english companies have some good working ones

Or if you find you could keep ones you have in get a bit of window tint or black marker and put on inside of lense cover:)

Exactly the same reason why I purchased those myself. Faultless since the went in the number plates and all door puddle lights.

I can't find any on ebay which only have 1 or 2 LEDs per bulb. Usually they have 6+ LEDs per bulb, which is way too bright in my opinion...

Anyone know where I can buy a single LED bulb, like the Philips version in the link above, for a cheaper price?

LEDs come in different brightness output (lumens is it?).

You could buy a single LED bulb only to find it as bright as a six LED bulb.

Okay, so does anyone know what lumen output BMW use in their E90 LED number plate bulbs?

I know that these bulbs have 2 LEDs in each bulb.

Will the lumen output be stated on the bulb?

Do you have the exact same Philips LED bulbs?

If so, how bright are they?

Fairly bright I have to say but not blindingly so. They are fine for the use I make of them.

Had a similar brightness issue with bright LEDs and because they are a directional light you just point the light up into the car which will reflect back down but not as bright.
