2 Day Seminar with Mick Coup

Mick Coup will be returning to Wild Geese for the third time!

The first time he gave an overview of his system. I was so impressed we discussed his return to run the 4 day foundation course (read my review here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=79048172#post79048172)
This time we're keeping it simple.

    Day 1 - Power Generation
    Day 2 - Punch / Kick clinic

    What does that mean?

It means that regardless of your style or background you can learn to maximise your striking potential. Mick is known for the devastating power in his his strikes, his system is built around it.
And while many can argue that it is his large frame that develops this power, those that have trained with him will tell you that it is his understanding of body mechanics that allows him to not only hit extremely hard, but to repeat this over and over.

    Mick can also teach.
It's not often that a top level artist is also a top level coach. Mick is both. His military background, his attention to detail and his analytical mind combine to gather to form a man who has dissected his chosen subject matter to figure out not only how best to make it work, but also how best to make it work for everybody.

The course will be hands on, expect to work. But also expect to learn.
Ask questions, listen to the answers. Do not accept anything Mick tells you without scrutiny, he expects you to be actively involved in the learning process, this enhances the learning experience.

    Date & Time:
    Sat 11 August, 1000 - 1400
    Sun 12 August, 1000 - 1400

Just to add a little detail, and a couple of amendments...

Essentially one workshop will cover a simple high cross-punch technique as a generic 'vehicle' for the application of the various principles and concepts, and the other will feature a generic low round-kick. Most systems utilise versions of these two techniques with the various underlying mechanics being fairly universal...especially as performance becomes optimal, where delivery becomes almost identical in application.

Over the years I've had a great deal of success utilising an array of training methods to increase performance, power-wise, with often immediate results, using all-manner of adapted, innovative and often unique practices.

    HIGHLINE POWER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

    Aim

To develop the ability to generate more usable force within the confines of a generic ‘highline’ punch technique that can be found within most martial arts, combat sports, etc.

    Content

A very subject-specific workshop, looking at progressively addressing the issue of optimal ‘impact’ and the processes best used to deliver
    it, including:

    - Universal Body Mechanics & Dynamic Alignment Principles

    - Sequential Torque & Kinetic Chain Concepts

    - Kinetic Energy Transfer Methods

    - Explosive Power Training & Maximal Force Development

    - Plyometric & Isometric Loading Practices

    Scope

This practical 4-hour workshop is designed to introduce and explore proven principles of dynamic force generation, delivery and target transfer, utilising a variety of methods and techniques specific to common punching-style techniques.

The material presented will enable the individual to dramatically increase impact power, and the concepts can be universally applied to any striking system or method.

    Dates & Times

    6th October 2012
    10am - 2pm

    Venue

Wild Geese Martial Arts & Fitness
