Proposal for new sub-forum

I got this idea after browsing some foreign cycling forums.
They have a sub-forum called "Me and my bike" or something along those lines where people put their bikes out for display: make some nice pictures, write/paste the specs, upgrades they've done, why they've bought that particular bike, their opinions about it, etc. I found it very informative and entertaining to read.
I know here we have topic "Post images of beauty...", it's great but not organized and often get buried under several pages of new topics and it takes forever someone new to come across it.
So, what do you think? Would it be nice/useful to have a sub-forum where everyone could create their own topic to show off their "stables"?

Here's some photos from the forum I've got this idea from:

Was only thinking about this during a spin this morning, a project/build thread subforum would be very interesting to read, if people were willing to show off their bikes.

I've said it before but will repeat it anyway - Sub forums get little traffic. Most posters tend to stick to the main forum.

Of course, "Images of Beauty" is actually very easy to find - just click on the Charter/FAQ thread and there's a link there;)

Even if there was general support here, it would need to be requested here, and would need to satisfy the conditions set out in the Forum Requests Charter and procedure. Then it would require Admin buy-in

TBH there have been a number of suggestions for sub-forums, many of which would arguably have more support than this would, but none of which (except for the 2 we do have) ever got off the ground ...

I'd like to second what Beasty said, we have two threads on this particular subject and sub forums are very quiet. I would like to add that we always welcome suggestions on improving the cycling forum.

Walking Tours of Kilkenny in English, French or German.

How about re-stickying the post images of beauty thread? It would see more contributions if it was on the main page and not getting lost after a few hours... just an idea.

I started this thread last year. It may be the closest which you'll get to what you're looking for.

    Why?

As I've already said, it's linked from theCharter/FAQs, and as everyone is expected to read the forum rules, no-one has an excuse for missing it;)

And as I've said on numerous occasions, we are expected (by the powers that be) to keep the stickies down to a bare minimum - IMO the off-topic thread is more important to keep stickied rather than replace it with images of beauty

That's a good thread Lemag but I'd prefer somewhere where asking questions and seeking opinions on a bike build/new bike purchase/upgrades and where feedback is encouraged, not disallowed. Like the weight weenies forum introduce yourself page, for example.

What's wrong with Images of Beauty?

I thought that was closed after I won that thread?

Because I just scan the page in front of me and don't even consider routing through a FAQ page to find another page, but that's just me:pac:

But I do agree that the off-topic thread is more important and also understand that too many sticky's clutter up the place.

Nothing...I just suggested it should be re-stickyed as an alternative to a sub-forum.
