    Hi guys,

Where in the vicinity of Dublin would it be good to do a 40km test ride early on a Sunday morning?

We'll be in full kit, so discs and aero helmuts.

I was thinking either 8am in Phoenix Park, find some loop we can repeat over and over till we hit 40km.

Also isnt there some road out near the airport that people use to TT? Is it safe and if so can anybody link a Strava or Garmin link to it please?

    Thanks,
    -B

Kilshane cross at back of airport up to ashbourne. Not sure exact distance but probably in 40km region there and back. Theres a roundabout at the ashbourne end aswell

Batterstown to trim and back. We use it for our club 40k TT.

Are those 2 routes pretty quiet? Or will we have a lot of traffic on the roads?

The Boot Inn circuit is 8km per lap. The pub is at the back of the airport and to do the circuit you keep taking a left, of which there's two tight turns. Its good for working on your cornering though you lose time on the turns and theres some potholes you have to be wary of

Batterstown to Trim should be pretty quiet, it's always been quiet any time I've done a TT there on a weekday evening. Not sure if there are churches on that road if it's a Sunday.

    Strava segment page here

This is the main 25m course used by most of the clubs in the areas (LOUTI league, Dublin Wheelers, Swords) - it's relatively quiet with a roundabout after 7km then a turn at the roundabout on the outskirts of Trim

The problem with the Boot Inn circuit is it is right next to the airport, with quite a bit of traffic and a poor road surface in places

No it's 25m out and back

But be aware, there will be an IVCA race starting at Batterstown at 9.15am tomorrow. I'm not sure which course they are using, and you'll be fine if you do set off at 8 as you should be finished before they start
