    Hi All,

I would really appreciate if you would give an advice on the following. I am leaving Ireland after 9 years of working here. I am wondering if I am eligible for the tax return. I mean do i get the tax (PSRI, USC etc..) that i paid over the past 9 years since I am not going to use it in the future in terms of benefit, pension etc.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Believe it or not that is a really common question.
I always ask the same question in return, why do you think you are entitled to a refund of all tax paid over the last 9 years? It doesn't make sense. The tax you paid is gone. It's been used like everyones tax to run the country.
Depending on when you leave the country you might get a refund of this years tax based on unused rate band and credits.
Your PRSI is slightly different. You may be able to transfer the record of your contributions to whatever country your moving to.

Yes agree with you. However, i am not going to use the PSRI, that i paid, in the future, thus i am wondering if there is any mechanism that i could transfer/refund it. I would appreciate if you could give any constructive and professional advice.
