So Irish Ferries want us to drink and drive

Just saw an add for Irish Ferries, usual bullsh*t voice over about their great service. What surprised me was it featured a motorist who drove on was then seen sitting back with a glass of wine then driving off. This was on the routes they advertise as short trips from ireland and the UK. Pretty dumb marketing if you ask me

Is one glass above the limit?

A glass of wine won't generally put you above the limit.

You should also consider the fact that the crossings take about 6 hours.

One glass of wine; a 6 hour gap, then driving? How's that promoting drink driving?

Does it really take six hours to sail to the UK?
I would have thought you could swim it in that time!

The bigger ships can take that long unfortunately.

I'm taking the bus over to London this week again. There and back... not including the time it will take me to get the terminus/depot on both ends, it will be about 25 hours of non-stop travelling there and back.

I just wish I could afford last minute flights :(

Yeah every single person on a ferry is automatically a driver...ok. Thank God there are no ferries from Ireland to Spain, the alcohol would never wear off!!!

I expect the bus-driver will share a few bottles of vodka with you to help pass the time.

Been in the ship section reserved for truckers sometimes (private bars and meal areas), see them get filled up with the stuff then a few hours later drive off down their ship ramps with the short/long haul goods.

I'm still amazed there has not been many of their accidents reported more.

It's grand, it was non-alcoholic wine.

Just the fact that some people are talking about it in a slightly negative manner though does beg the question that some marketing people maybe don't take the bigger picture into consideration??.
Its slightly similar to the whole Centra thing last week, now there was an ad campaign that turned into a fubar :D.
This is quite mild in comparison. :)

I hate that ad. You're going to the UK. You don't need a jacuzzi or any of that ****e!

They hit the nail on the head themselves "you're not here for a long time, you're here for a fun time"

Whats the problem with that Dild ?

Advt is perfectly OK ...promoting nice relaxed trips to UK ..unlike that stressing airport journey
