    Hi,

Im new to triathlons and have used my hybrid bike for the last few triathlons - now time to upgrade to a road bike.:D

What would be the best entry level bike to get on the bike to work scheme - have 1k to play with

Have been looking at Giant and Specialised models but just looking for some recommendations please or other brands that would fit the bill.

    Thanks
    S

Thats seems decent value alright but if you are going to be racing triathlons which are generally flat in cycling terms and are any way a decent biker i wouldnt recommend a compact. That said it can be upgraded to something decent for 80 - 120 second hand and even as little as 140-160 new. I rode 3 years on a 50 and it was ridiculous! I was conned into buying it and often spun out.

Yeah a compact would be a no no in my opinion as well. (insert caveat about for most people etc etc etc)
