    Hi .

I'm going doing the Camino De Santiago in Spain in August for 5 weeks, next month.

    I am on a limited budget and here a few of the things I need to get for the walk;

    Walking shoes/boots

    Sandles - straps

    Socks - bridgedale preferably

    Light poncho

    wide rimmed hat

50L max rucksack with waist strap

    Silk sleeping bag lining

I'm looking to buy the items preferable second hand or else new.

I am living in the Cork city area in Ireland.

Do you know of any second hand stores or shops in the Cork area?

Do you know of any websites whereby you could buy the stuff for a good price, maybe even second hand?

I am looking for quality shoes + rucksack and I am not too concerned about the rest.

I would be open to buying from anybody who may have some of the stuff in the Cork area.

    Thanks.

Have a look on www.adverts.ie you can narrow your search down to the cork area.

After that also consider looking at www.donedeal.ie

    These are great sites.

God bless you on your pilgrimage. Please remember me in your prayers.

There is an Outdoor Pursuits forum here on Boards, you'll get excellent advice there. Personally, I've found 53 degrees north to be excellent (they have a store in Cork). As you say, concentrate your money on buying a good rucksack and footwear, the rest isn't quite as important. Buen Camino!

Hi iredia, On the Boots. I Bought a pair of Salomon boots + bridgedale socks. But I bought them 3 months before the walk and did about 6 30km walks. I recommend you invest, Cork must have plenty of outdoor places.

There is also a forum for all the camino questions.

    http://www.caminodesantiago.me/board/el-camino-frances/?sid=a1c5db5dc6fe0eaa9822f8ee3df9316f

Don't bother with the Sink Lining, Just bring a sheet from home. It will be hot. Any most places have blankets anyway.

If you send me your address my PM I will post you a Poncho for Free, its M size for a Man.. I just used it during the camino and you are welcome to have it.

    Hi All!!

I am concerned about the bed bugs while on the Camino. I have been told to get nikwax skitostop insect repellent which contains permethrin. Does anybody know where I could get this product ideally in Cork. I leave for the camino in 2 weeks...

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

Try the survivalist forum on boards for an alternative to buying a repellent. There are other ways to make your own repellent.
