Doesn't have to be an E60

I liked the Lexus when they came out, I even liked the clunky gear change from first to second, I liked the handling and the vibe of the interior with the chronograph dials and the indestructible yet plasticy feel to them,

However they became the knackermobile of choice a few years back and that kind of ruined it for me. Also I always found the engine a bit lacking, it's nice and smooth and sounds ok when you giv it the beans, but it's not all that fast.

The c class I never got on with, they look alright in a mini s class kind of way, but I just never warned to them.

I reckon the bm is the best of both worlds, but I know what you're saying about getting a wrongun.

Ive never seen an older model 520d in ireland have you?

Well my mechanics words were basically dont buy one unless your prepared to spend money down the line fixing it?...I just need something very reliable and he said those are 2 of the most reliable that never give trouble...naturally that's only one persons view though. Surely the kompressor engine would be pokey enough?:p

Wouldn't say the c class is a paragon of reliability.

neither of those would be what i'd call pokey. is200 will be fairly hard on fuel

Coming from a basic 1.4 octavia i can safely say..anything will have a bit more poke than it :p

Just as an indication, it was rated 126th out of 137 cars on the 2003 top gear drivers survey.

The 1.8 can suffer from carbon build up and like most mercs if that era, they rust

op are you looking for a saloon or coupe and what is the max engine size?

the below has just had price dropped by E500, a huge amount of car for that money!

I'd be looking at something like this, nipper/more fuel efficent that the is200 and better put together than the C Class.

Of if you want reliability a Honda Accord:

I dont like audi's at all man, just not my thing. Also isnt this engine troublesome if it isnt maintained properly?

Of if you want reliability a Honda Accord:

I havent really thought about them tbh...good car?

OP get the slightly older CLK 320 komprressor with a years tax if you can afford the insurance...

a grand car, not as good as older mercedes but a good... erm... " entery " model ?

cause atleast everyone in their life time should buy a cheap merc... Break rule no 1, learn from it and move on...

essentailly losing their motoring virginity i think, much like owning a cheap alfa, without looking quiet so much girly.

A 320 :O its like 1500 to tax though :(.i dont even want to think about the insurance....im on a provisional atm ( test waiting period here in my town is a joke!!!) and no nonsense are giving me the c-class or is200 for 1800 fully comp which is pretty good imo... I assume this will go down?

Im starting to swing towards the is200 now though..the 180 search i typed into google showed alot regarding rusting issues...although is this similar for the 04 as many stated it stopped around then?
