The head of the religion department at Luther College in Iowa recently argued that Jesus Christ, the central figure of Christianity, was in fact, a Muslim.

“‘Was Jesus a Muslim?" asks Prof. Robert F. Shedinger in the beginning of a book he published this year entitled Was Jesus a Muslim?" I will answer with a very qualified yes."

I would have thought He was a Jew but who am I without any academic qualification to argue.
Not a lot of info in the link but I think he may have been comparing the main thrust of Jesus and Mohamed social missions, rather than their religious mission.
In this case I would see similarities but as far as sharing a faith? come on! Other than both Christianity and Islam both being Abrahamic they are quite separate and neither Jesus or Mohamed would join the other faith.

I think this may be a storm in a tea party cup anyway.

I don't see how any of us can really discuss this without reading the content of his book and the basis for his argument.

I'm not surprised either that it comes from ''wacky America''

I haven't read the book, but I imagine this will be along the lines of Jesus sharing a lot in common with Islamic teaching, rather than a literal notion that Jesus followed the religion started by Muhammad. Bit like when people say things like "Was Jesus a Marxist"
