Playing rugby in Toulouse

    Hi all.
Does anyone know a good resource for rugby clubs in Toulouse. I have been searching and found a few clubs here and there, but there is nothing like the Leinster rugby website in terms of teams and grades they play in.

Im looking for clubs in the J2 - J4 level, so I think that would be Federale 3 or Reserves.

Can anyone help me with this?

    Thx

Tolosenc will probably be able to point you in the right direction, or have a look at this.

If yu can make contact with Trevor Brennan out there he'll put you on the right road, He has a pub and his own travel company. We played out there three years ago and he even played with us (he's first game since ban) and the guy couldn't do enough for us. He'd only be too delighted to help. Maybe hard to get in touch with as he's busy but if you do he'll help big time.

    Cool. Thx pickarooney.
That link looks good. Had a look at one of the clubs mentioned and they seem to be about a low J3 or high J4 level so will probably go with them.

The club president wants to meet me as well, when I move over, before season starts. Bit strange that :-)

    I wonder is that normal...

Club president is most likely the guys that looks after the licences and checks your medical clearance so pretty normal I'd say.

No sure if its still the same but when i went to play in Germany 11 years ago I had to have a release letter from Leinster branch and my club, this can take a while. Things may have changed.

I played with my university while I was there. As mentioned above, I'd go to Trevor Brennan's pub and ask.

Yeah the player needs an international clearance form filled out by the IRFU and this is then sent to the French club saying the player is allowed to play for them.
Gordon Black in the IRFU usually looks after them.

just call into trevor brennan in de danu he has time for everyone- save yourself mountains of hassle, and you'll get the straight talk on where to go, and you'll be looked after too id imagine. Ring ahead, as he's not there that much. The boys on the bar will let you know when hes usually around, theyre bang on, and have his movements down to a tee :D Either that, or just go in beering for the day with a paper and wait for him to arrive, usually midweek from when i spent a few months there.

Thanks for that. Sent a mail to the IRFU so hopefully they will send me the form I need.

Here's a link to the FFR & the famous form..

    http://www.ffr.fr/index.php/ffr/historique/2011/autorisation_de_sortie
    http://www.ffr.fr/var/corporate/storage/original/application/c7dc210010b143172d73923d88e254ba.pdf

If you can get directly in touch with TB I'd go with that route. France is a nightmare for paperwork.....everything has to be rubberstamped in at least triplicate so having someone to guide you will save a lot of headaches. If you haven't experienced it its hard to believe. Btw before playing your going to have to get a medical (with the proper official form of course!) so make sure your up to date with all your shots.
Hope you enjoy your time over here.

Depending on the clubs level & the player there is a "rumour" that clubs may "help" players with accomadation/work/expenses etc etc........ There is even noises that players might actually be getting cash for games but that couldn't possibly be true :D

The meet & greet is no doubt to sound you out on what you're expecting and what the club will or won't do for you. There is always a "board" at clubs but generally the President decides pretty much everything.

My medical consisted of the doctor asking me if I reckoned I was fit enough to play and then signing a form. €6.00 and 5 minutes in and out.

Seriously?? My local Doc checks the kids head to toe & talks 23€ each for his troubles! Are you sure you're in France ;)

Maybe I should have typed "my" before "kids" & yes I was present, as their father. Don't tell me PC mad Ireland would find that objectionable

The team Im thinking of playing for is just below Fed3 level, which is probably similar to a high J4 level or low J3 level, so I dont think I will be getting any dosh out of it ;)
He was asking was I looking for work and what area I work in. When I told him the area in IT I work in, just wrote back in question marks. I think he was thinking more of a bar job or something like that. Nice of him to ask anyway :)

How long does it take for the transfer to take?

I would like to wait a little bit until I can check out the club in person, so dont wanna start the transfer process before checking out the club, and maybe asking TB about them. My gf used to work in his bar, so I have my contacts ;)

I would think you're transferring your licence to the FFR rather then an individual club but don't quote me on that.
