Interesting stuff for digging around in

    Executive summary here

    http://www.irishsportscouncil.ie/News_Events/Latest_News/2012_Archive/Executive_Summary.html
o Walking for transport is the only key metric on the ISM to have seen a decline in participation, perhaps due to fewer people travelling to work. It is likely this same dynamic has driven the increase in recreational walking as those unemployed replace walking for transport with recreational walking

o The proportion cycling for transport remains unchanged at 10%. It may be that the decline in the numbers travelling to work is offset by the success of initiatives such as the Cycle to Work and Dublin Bikes schemes

The main file is available here but its a monster at 13MB.

    Interesting stuff so far
    • Cycling for transport is holding its own despite fall in numbers at work
    • Higher income earners more likely to cycle
    • People who cycle into their 20s likely to stay cycling
    • Comments on barriers to participation among women - but I didn't see any mention of the "H" word
    • 94% of cyclists are not club members
