Reinstalling Windows 7 on a Lenovo x121e

Hi guys, I'm having a desperate time trying to re-install Win 7 64bit on my Thinkpad. It has no dvd drive so I used this Microsoft utility to create a bootable usb flash drive with a lexar 8gb stick. First I used an iso image of Windows 7 Home Premium, and got an error message during installation (something like "Windows 7 cannot complete the installation - can't configure to hardware"). When I googled the error message, a post on a microsoft forum indicated that this issue would be resolved if Win 7 SP1 was installed instead.

Well, I found the relevant iso image, created the bootable flash drive again, but now I'm getting a different error: "Windows cannot install required files as may be corrupt or missing: Error 0x80070570".

Any of you guys had a similar problem before?
