Being wondering about this one lately and if this format will ever take off. With the quality of players on both senior tours and with a lot of characters in their own right, I think it would be a great concept.
Googled it a bit and I see Pavin talking abt it a few years ago saying it would be a good idea, other then that not much.
Anyone know if their are any plans for this in the future or do you think it would be a success in general?

A similar event was held a few years back but it was USA vs Rest of the World and it was a mix of over 40s and over 50s

I don't think it got too much tv coverage here.

We already have men junior and "regular" as well as the female variants so we're at saturation point on US V's Europe I think.
At present Europe hold all the trophies!!

look at the European players that might be involved:

Andy Oldcorn, Mark James, Barry Lane, Peter Folwer, Anders Forsbrand, Sandy Lyle, Des Smyth

Langer would the the only saver for them.

then look at the likely US players:

Lehman, Couples, Funk, Perry, Sluman, Pavin, Haas, Cook, Byrant, Calcavecchia, Irwin

it would be a proverbial "lambs to the slaughter"

Thats what makes it interesting though. There have being many times when Europe have being underdogs and have come out on top.

I would sooner watch those guys compete against each other then the women or the Juniors (no offense), As we all know these guys and their characters from yesteryear.

Woosnam would prob get a shout, And with Ollie and Monty nearly there it would make an interesting watch I think.
