Motor Tax Question

My car is tax until 07/12 which means I need to renew it however I don't have the money until I get paid on the 31st. If I renew on the 31st and print a receipt, will that be ok if I'm stopped?
On CIC it says "if you are stopped by the Gardaí while driving a vehicle and the road tax for that vehicle is out of date by two months or more, the Gardaí can seize that vehicle and impound it until such time as the owner can show proof that the motor tax has been paid for that vehicle to include the date on which it was impounded".

Since I would only be out by a couple of days would it mean it's ok? Or do I need to take the bus?!!

If you tax it in person at a motor tax office you'll get your disc on the spot.
On line takes about 3 days in the post.
Having said all that you'll be ok for a few days, try and avoid parking in places where traffic wardens or gardie are active as some of them are a bit enthuastic.

Thanks, I can't go to the office as I am in work. If I tax it Tuesday morning I should get it Friday, I think the only place I need to go has a private pay shopping centre car park so I shouldn't be in the vivinity of wardens

I am waiting fr my Tax disc, tax out since yesterday. If I go somewhere can I be clamped or get a ticket? I'd take my chances on a ticket as I see heer people can get off if the car tax is bought already, but there are clampers in work. They patrol the pay and display carparks so I presume they wouldn't be looking in the non-pay and display anyway. Can NCPS clamp you for no tax?

technically you could get a ticket for non-display, in practise thats unlikely unless its out of date more than afew days (or even a month) and as you can prove you paid, it would get squashed anway I imagine. NCPS cannot clamp you for no tax, only a Warden or a Gard

Thanks, that's good to know. I'd take my chances with the gardai and my receipt in hand as they seem to be quite reasonable in this area but them clampers are a heartless bunch ;)
