Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what a sys admin with 6 years experience should be earning? I'm trying to gauge what I should have been getting paid in my last job so I know what to ask for in interviews!:p I know there's salary surveys online but I'm not sure how realistic they are? I was covering Tier2 and 3 support eg server builds, server availability/performance monitoring, AD, mail, proxy, shares, patches, AV, backups, deploying software etc. I got on-call allowance and VHI - no bonus or pension or education/training allowance..

If you're just doing Windows stuff, you're probably looking at 35-50K.
