Badly bloodshot eyes after cycling

Hi, I want to try on here first with any eye experts. I've recently taken up cycling but can anyone explain why (even though i wear glasses) that my eyes are so badly bloodshot after a cycle. is it possibly wind effect on my eyes, maybe drying them out or something ? (i don't get hayfever btw)
