Are the more recent sky dishes as liable to rust as the older ones ?

If the one my parents had fitted around 6 months ago is anything to go by then they are much worse!

My Ohs parents dish was badly mangled with rust and tbh not sure how it was still providing signal, got it replaced but her parents live about 100 metres from the Atlantic so I'd say it'll start rusting soon

Painted mine with black spray paint I got for €1.50 in my local discount store,it works a treat to prolong the life of a dish.

The EL branded dishes are quite mediocre alright. The Raven ones don't seem as bad, or the Triax ones, though they seem rare nowadays.

The older Triax branded ones back when Sky digital first started seemed the best, longevity wise. The ones nowadays probably cost half the price to manufacture.

I did get what seemed a very limited edition solid Minidish, as opposed to the usual perforated dish. Only had a box of 5 and have never seen them available since.

I have an old rusty dish I would like to have replaced, would these dishes do the job?

They'll not be big enough for here, IMO. Also unlikely to have a longer life than good solid dishes from the likes of Triax, Inverto, etc.

But WTF! Mounting the dish to a PVC window! Christ Almighty!

If you use a triax or other type of solid dish to replace a sky mesh dish dont forget to get a galavanised bracket, you may also need a universal LNB as the sky one might not work on a different dish.
I have a triax dish i fitted seven years ago right beside the sea and it still is perfect,it has out lived a lot of my neigbours sky mesh dishes.
