Microsoft Updates

Our notepad, using Windows 7, downloaded the updates from Microsoft toward the end of June. We now have to go to System Restore to enable us to connect with the internet, we cannot connect to the internet with the new updates installed on the notepad. Have gone to the screen that tells me what signals are available but still the notepad will not connect to the internet unless we go to the restore. I have downloaded updates to the P.C. and I had a problem with using windows and had to contact Microsoft to gain a code to re-instate my use of the PC.
What did Microsoft use in their updates that have caused these problems?

If you go to Windows Update and then click on "xx important updates available" it'll give you a list of updates that are scheduled to be installed on the computer. Would you mind posting that list for us to have a look at?

If an update failed to install, click the Failed icon to learn how to solve the problem.

Note: To remove an update, go to Add and Remove Programs in your Control Panel.
