Side affect of heavy bales this year I suppose but one of the tipping rams on my tanco 968 loader is after getting damaged, been quoted 200 for parts to get it fixed and labour on top of that again or 300 +VAT for a new one, anyone know where I might be able to get a secondhand ram?

yea it got bent and the casing at the top is cracked aswell, its more the cost of getting it repaired is similar to the price of a new one when you include all the parts and seals.

I give em a ring and see anyway, thansk Van

Those rams were supplied to one of the Burnside companies in Carlow. I beleive it is the one named Burnside Hydracyl (Ballymoon), I work in one of the sister companies who are into the more industrial applications but Ballymoon do all the agricultural machienery. Give them a call and they will give you info as to what your best option is 059 97 21739. They may even have a few rams in stock at a better price than a distributor. If you can find a stamp with a number somewhere on the ram it might help them find the list of seals, bearing rings, etc that you need. If its only seals and bearings rings you are after they should be only a few euro for parts. A good big stensil will open and close ram but make sure to put seals in correct way. Let me know how you get on

I appologise for not reading your thread correctly, you stated that the rod is bent and the casing at top is cracked. I presume the casing that is cracked is the gland? (the gland screws onto the main tube of the ram and the chrome rod slides through the centre). The rod may be expensive if its only a one off job as it will take time to program their machine but they may have the glands in stock as they often use the same glands on other rams with same diameter tube and rod. It would be no harm to get in touch with them anyway. I hope this info is useful to you.

    Cheers lads,
Sent it up to Burkes in Athenry and the made a new seal carrier and straightened the rod, not sure if it'll work, hopefully they tested it. It'll be a few weeks before i use it again.
