Shower is dripping so I opened the front panel and the cover of the water inlet is loose.

It feels like a washer has perished, if I press the cover in the dripping slows/stops, does this happen and is it just a case of replacing it?

Would Ross for example have them in stock?

One other thing, there is a bit of black staining on the inside of the front cover that looks like electrical sparking maybe, no sign of overheating wires.

There is a push fit fitting on these. You can phone modern plant and ask them for a new part or else wrap ptfe around the pipe and shove it in the push fitting. They usually leak if an insert was not used in pex or the pipe was not de bured if its copper. Its a relativly easy fix as there is not much pressure. Just turn off the water and empty the tank.

On the black powder. This is common but depends on how much. Its usually the brushes in the motor.

    Thanks Joey,

I'd say the insert was not fitted.

The twist cover feels very loose, I'll wrap the pipe in tape and see how it goes not sure if the plumber put an on/off tap on the pipe, hope so, if not can't I just plug the pipe in the tank to stop the flow and then check the shower.

The powder sounds right, not too much for 5 years, just thought I'd mention it.

    Cheers.

PS, If there was no insert, should I now put one in/ guessing yes.

Turned of the water, plumber had put in a tap by the tank.
Took a chance and wrapped tape around the lip of the filter/water inlet and the leak has stopped, happy days.
