    In fact, if that thing's not at least 60cm long, you couldn't licence it at all (it'd qualify as a short firearm under the restricted firearms SI and you can't licence a restricted short firearm).

    so just out of couriousity is there any sport out there that will allow you to shoot for sport or let you fire a projectile so to speak say for hunting or the like without a licence ?

    yes archery, you can buy a compound bow or recurve bow without any licence, Which is funny as they would be far more dangerous than any crossbow.

    cant hunt with a crossbow or bow

    theres lots of archery clubs about the country just look in the archery section might get a club near you i used to be on the bmit intervarcities team years ago was a good laugh there was a team in carlow limerick and a few in dublin
