Open to correction by anyone with better local knowledge but according to the An Post website, there is a post office in the old shopping centre in Irishtown, the one below St. Marys Church.

Give them a bell to see if they're still there, chances are if they moved they'll have kept the same number: 090-6472046

Unit 4 Athlone Town Centre, ie, the new shopping centre.

It's one of the outer units at the entrance beside the Civic Centre/St. Mary's Church of Ireland.

The old shopping centre is now closed.

The nearest post office is just before the entrance to the Town Centre off the Civic Square.
