Getting Poults in 2 weeks and need to make some transport crates, just looking for 20 birds
Just looking for dimensions, mainly the min height?

The heights should be around eight inches. About three foot by 2 foot is the average size of a crate but it could be a bit smaller. You'd fit 30 poults in a crate that size.

Don't make the floor out of mesh, it will only cause broken toes. Also there is no need for many holes on the top but put plenty on the side. Max size 25mm. That's really it. Not much too it. If you are in a gun club invest in a proper crate they will last a lifetime. poultry-crate-500x500.jpg

These are the best crates, low enough so that they find it hard to bang there heads and also has side entry. You could fit about 35/40 poults into one.

Well worth buying one or else you'll find yourself making crates every year. Get onto your gun club.

keep your eye round the back of 'cough cough' tesco or similar, they have plastic veggie crates that will make passable poult crates
clamshell two one inverted on top of the other . some cable ties and you have a cheap crate for a few poults just don't overcrowd them

I have a load of them I think, meat crates, a bit bigger than veg crates
