hi all i was in a local gun shop the other day
had no intentions of changing my rifle but the dealer had a good deal on a secondhand mauser .270
had a quick look at the gun and it looked in good nick..no rust scrapes etc
have been thinking of changing my gun now the last few days since i saw the mauser
i currently have a savage accu trigger .243
i originally bought the .243 as i was doing a lot of foxing which i dont do anymore just shoot deer and the rare fox

anyway whats your thought on these rifles
i had a quick look for a model no. but couldnt spot one anyone no where they are on them was on mausers website and the guns they have on there have a completely different stock to the one im looking at
so im thinking its the older mauser before the company was changed

It could well be a generic Mauser, as opposed to a Mauser produced gun. Mauser type actions were built by the likes of FN, Parker Hale, Zastava (still producing them) and the like, and there's been a worldwide industry of smaller-scale conversions of military Mauser actions since the turn of the last century, building sporting rifles ranging from cheap and nasty to works of art. I'd say your .270 is something like a Parker Hale, and should be a really nice gun.

It could be a Mauser produced barrelled action as well. They're pretty nice guns, be they the newer M03 or the M98, which is the classic action. If you can, take photos and fire them up and it'll become easier to see what you're looking at.

They made a straight pull bolt action a few years ago that was (from what i have heard and read) a disaster and probabily best avoided, if you research the model you want to buy on the web just to be safe.
