NCT booking problems

    Hello All

My car is due an NCT on the 14th of August. On the 28th of June I tried to book it in online in either northpoint 1,2 or fonthill for during July but found that the system was showing no dates available at all for the entire month.

so i rang the booking line and told them and they said they would be releasing the dates for July this week and would book me in and text me the details. I told them on the phone that there were several dates I was away in July (12-16th and could I please avoid them) they said they would try but i could ring up and change the booking if needed.

I got the booking text on Friday for July the 14th which is while i am away. I just rang up the booking line and then told me there is nothing they can do as all these centers are booked up until the end of August, which is past the date of the cert expiring.

I then asked if i could try ringing this week for a cancellation and was told that it was unlikely I would get one as "lots of dealers ring in for them" and if i left it any longer to cancel my appointment there would be "charges".

Is there anything I can do bar having someone else bring my car in while I am away?

I thought that booking a month and a half in advance would have al least given me a choice of dates - how far in advance do you need to book these days?

    Its pretty frustrating.

Nothing you can do. Keep calling every day for a new date and don't forget to cancel (If you need to) 6 business days in advance, otherwise they will charge you 50% of the usual rate for "no show".

Just keep ringing in at about 8am everyday till you get an appointment.

Managed to get one within a couple of weeks last time when nothing was showing on-line for a few months.

You can change it online, it's much easier than calling. Go on at about 8 in the morning and keep refreshing the page until you get something that suits.
