App for Streaming Video on a Local Network?

Hi All,

I'm looking for an app to stream video across a local network, I have a network hard drive with some videos on it and it'll be handy if I could watch them on my phone (Galaxy Nexus).

I found GoodPlayer for iOS does this perfectly (just enter the IP address of the HD) but I haven't found a good android equivalent.

I am using ES File Explorer File Manager, you can select LAN and it will search for any media server on the same network.

I use Vplayer as well as it have most of the codecs

I've had ES File Explorer File Manager for ages , never knew you could do that with it .

I installed Vplayer and will give them a go when i'm back at home.

Skifta is good IF your media server supports DLNA or UPnP, otherwise you can't stream.

Not much of a media server its just a network hard drive, it's the my book live but i find WD software very restrictive.

I have it working grand with my PC, PS3 and Ipad. All i need now is my phone and i'm set

Streaming with their apps was very slow , constantly buffering. Even on my local network it was routing the data to their servers and sending it back to me. Causing havoc with the speeds

Pretty sure it is DLNA certified

If you are streaming via PS3, then it is defo DLNA

Thanks Aka, both Es File Explorer and Vplayer suit me nicely , i'll be using Vplayer as it has a nice UI
