on Newstalk right now ,sunday show.

David Quinn in yesterdays Indo speaking of the need to defend marriage?. Why does he view same sex couples wanting to marry as an attack on marriage?.

    Why do they care?

John Waters is a bit of whack job anyway who likes the sound of his own voice, nobody really listen to him.

John Waters is a misogynistic fool who is still stuck in the 1970s and is best ignored.

For the same reason that I get really upset about Tom and Mary down the road when they enter their driveway front-first instead of reversing in. I never see them do it nor do I see them reverse out but I'm a busy-body who like to poke his nose into the affairs of others.*

John Waters is a tool. It is one of my goals in life to go up to him and introdce myself.

"Hi John, I'm baby&crumble and I'm a protestant lesbian social worker who thinks Sinead O'Connor is the bomb"

Get everything he hates into one sentence.

I don't even know who he is but I doubt I should waste my time finding out either.

I think it's important to know the types of arguments that are used by Waters et al so you can learn how to logically argue against them.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Oh noes children gain security in non traditional family model, or am I missing something?

Waters is a bit of a twat I have to say, as is David Quinn, but when my gran agrees with me on that I don't feel I have much to worry about with them, I think they have a voice for the reaction it provokes moreso than that anyone much actually agrees or listens.

Dang brain not awake yet I totally misread that as John Waters the film director and was thinking sure he's gay and doesn't strike me as a self hating gay man why would he [a] be on Irish radio and acting like such a tool?

Waters is an apologist for the RCC, and as for Quinn, he's a catholofascist. They are both complete and utter tools.

I think you may be giving Waters too much credit there if you think that one needs to be prepared to argue logically against his nonsensical moronic ramblings.
The only preparation you will need is to try and not be so flabergasted by his nonsense that you can't talk at all.

I think it's important to quickly destroy his remarks. If only because this type of nonsense will be spouted and it's far more effective to point out the flaws in his analogy rather than call him an idiot.

Is there actually anything wrong with a brother and sister adopting? Seems pretty reasonable to me that an uncle and an aunt could become guardians of a kid if the kid's parents die. Don't need to be in a romantic relationship to be co-guardians.

(Now 3 uncles, that would be a different story, I've seen how that goes...)

I like some of his movies though, Hairspray is a good laugh, as is Serial Mom.

I think the majority of people would look at such views as old fashioned and read them like they would read articles in the Daily Mail.

Anyone that beliefs that shi't will believe it regardless of John Waters et al.

The momentum is now well behind same sex marraige in many western countries so it doesn't matter what dinosaurs/**** stirrers like John Waters say.

The same sentiment expressed in song.

Enjoy, if you haven't seen/heard it yet.

Yes indeed what would be wrong with a brother and sister adopting a child,if it meant a stable and loving home for the kid?.

Nothing much as long as they committed to living together and not engaging in any serious relationships until the kid turned 18. Can't imagine it would be ideal for a kid having 2 fathers and 2 mothers (or 3 and 1 etc), never mind a whole string of step patents.

Though one wonders why any brother and sister would commit to that type of living arrangement (instead of having kids of their own or adopting separately or with their partner) and whether they would be exactly what an adoption agency would look for.

Kids being adopted through agencies is pretty unheard of in modern day Ireland. Most adoption cases are family adoptions where people adopt kids from deceased relatives.
