    hi,

bought a new focus from a dealer in 2011. The radio in it has a aux button which i use for my iPod.
On three occasions the aux button has failed to work, which has led to me returning the car for three hours while they reset the software for the radio. It has just happened again which means another trip to the dealer and a three hour wait. Can i now get them to give me a new radio?

Could you explain exactly what happens to the radio.

i have a ipod connected to the radio through the aux button, which is in the glove box. I press the aux button and it reverts straight back to the radio. I've had it fixed twice. The men in the garage told me the radio try's to update itself and crashes. They have to reset it which takes a couple of hours.

I repair car stereos and have never heard of a radio updating itself. My diagnosis without seeing your radio is you have a tracking fault inside front facia. I would love to know how another similar radio would behave in car.

    how do you mean?
    could i fix it?
cause i'm fed up of going back to the dealership, if it fails 3 times can i get a new one?

I would ask garage to give you a loan of similar radio to see if same fault happens. There is no way you can repair it when you dont know what you are looking for.

i bought the car brand new, if it was a toaster i'd be given a new one, i'm not happy, another few hours why i wait for it to be fixed and then it will probably happen again

Find out from garage what exactly they are doing to " fix " it and let me know please. Is your radio Silver or Grey in colour
