Peugeot 306 - battery keeps draining

I bought a 99 Peugeot 306 two years ago and from the beginning it would die if I didn't use it very regularly. It's had two replacement batteries and hasn't died since March as I have been driving more often (I am a learner), however I'm just back from a weeks holiday and as I expected it's totally dead.

Anyone any ideas or can anyone recommend a good auto elec? I have been to two so far and neither can find anything wrong :(

im no expert but it could be the light being on in the boot or something, when the boot is open a little switch will pop out for the light to come on and then when its close the switch will go back in to turn the light off, maybe the little switch on the boot lid has snapped and so its constantly staying on. Its the best i can think of mate.

Thanks but I had look at the boot and glove box light and they're fine, it's just strange that both auto electricians couldn't find a thing wrong with it.

No nothing like that. I'll have to try another auto electrician, hopefully 3rd time lucky!

Could be a slack fan belt that is not passing power to the alternator.

    remove fuses to isolate problems.

will at least save you money from taking it to someone.

    nothing to lose.

It is very common for a car stereo to be responsible for draining a battery. I have seen it regularly in my every day work. My advice is remove radio from car and see how battery behaves afterwards.

I'll take the stereo out and see if that makes any difference, if it was the radio is it possible the issue could be intermittent? the reason I ask is I have had it at two different Auto Electrician's and they couldn't find any drain on the battery at all.

As strange as it may seem there is a possibility that one of the speakers could be causing your fault. The impedence of all speakers need to be checked and wiring to each wrt to ground.
