    Hi guys,

Got order confirmation today for the frameset, so i expect it will ship on Monday so need to get the rest of it ready to assemble.

I have wheels, speedplay pedals and a spare fizzik saddle.

    So i guess i need:

    Bars(Carbon maybe)
    Groupset
    Crankset(Carbon Maybe)
    Chain.

I'd like to keep it light as i can without spending too much.

    Thinking Microshift Aris for groupset.

Anybody able to recommend what to look at for the other parts?

    Thanks,
    -b

I ordered a Ultimate CF frameset recently and delivery was very fast - ordered Thursday and arrived Tuesday. You can track your order on the UPS website, from Germany through England to here.

Looks like all you need is a groupset. You should consider secondhand but in good condition, e.g. SRAM force for €650ish (new €1,000)

Worth keeping an eye on the cycling adverts sub forum too, e.g. camaghead has some good deals

I put mine together keeping the price down by using some part from my old bike and some used parts -

    Good luck with your build!

In case you are not aware of it one thing to watch out for is that you may need an "unusual" (as in, hard to find) stem to fit - Canyon forks used to, and probably still do, taper to 1.25" at the top. When I replaced the Ritchey stem on my Canyon recently, the only place I found a stem with a 1.25" steerer clamp was from Canyon themselves.

Buying a full groupset will be cheaper than buying the components seperately. The chain and cranks will be included in a complete groupset.

If looking to buy new then SRAM Rival should be hard to beat for cost:weight. Consider whether to go for standard or compact chainset and then decide on the crank length and then search for your desired groupset which matches these criteria.

If weight is your thing that make careful selections with tyres, tubes, bar tape etc. as there can be fairly large differences in weights. Also, if the qr skewers which you have are the stock one's which came with your wheels then you might shave off 80g or so with these. Taking weight off the bike elsewhere will most likely be expensive.

edit - The bars which you buy will have to be oversized (31.8 where they fit on to the stem). These are probably quite light, not that expensive and currently available in various sizes.

    Hi mate,

I'm thinking of getting the Microshift Arsis groupset (no chainset, just shifters, detrailers & breaks etc). I read no the forum you once had them. Are they ok to train on during the winter? Might try a race or 2 next year but may not. Will look for 2nd hand bars and chainset should allow me to keep the cost down of getting the bike setup.

Thanks for the advise you gave earlier.

I didn't have them them for a very long time but they worked fine. It's all about personal preferance though. The shifting mechanics of each of sram, campagnolo, shimano and microShift are different.

AFAIK, they don't do breaks, just shifters and derailleurs. If needing a full groupset this will leave you needing to buy a chainset and breaks so it might not work out cheaper than shopping around and buying, say, a full SRAM Rival groupset. Having more recognisable components on your bike will probably help its resale value.
