Beginner to eBay - selling an item

I've been a member of eBay for a while, never actually bought anything, but I want to sell a few things around the house, like brand clothes I've never worn and other random items  However I don't know how to get started. My understanding of it was, I take a picture of the item, slap a price on it and post on eBay.. then wait for a purchase :D Yes, yes, excuse my simple mindedness.. But how do I package and ship an item? Do I buy the proper packaging and do I pay for the P&P? :S Also I'm wondering would I be able to sell on the .uk or .com eBays with my normal account.

you have the basics but there is a bit of work involved.

this weekend is what is called free listings weekend where you can list up to 100 items for free with 1 picture and it has to be a auction style listing.

you can offer free postage if you want or you can get onto the An post website and work out how much it will cost to send to Ireland, the UK and maybe central Europe then add a euro for a padded envelope and some sticky tape and your ready to rock.

do some research first find out how much the same or similar items are selling for on ebay.

make sure to set your starting price at a level you'd be happy to sell the item i.e. your lowest price

when you get to the postage section just choose the countries you want to sell in and it will appear on those sites.

this is pretty basic but if you get stuck let me know

Make sure you know how much ebay & paypal fees will be charged to you. A lot of new sellers are suprised at the fees

dont bother the interest is way too high and there is always some disgruntled ebayer that will try to have you kicked off, just be sure you know what youre getting yourself in for..
the interest on items is ridiculous, you cant sell without a credit card/paypal and the interest on paypal is high too, everybody wants their cut before you sell a penny..
