Im referring to the idea of introverted and extroverted people, but deeper than that, the way some people can be more introverted or extroverted than others, and the way some people feed of the energy of others and some people give energy to others, with communication.. If anyone has any theories, explanations or opinions id be very interested to read them.. Thanks

I've just started reading 'Social Intelligence' by Daniel Goleman which starts with a description of how emotions can be contagious, citing the processes of the amygdala that occur outside our awareness when we are engaging with others. As I said have only started reading it, but maybe it could be relevant to what you're looking for.

Not sure if its what you're looking for but in regards to introverted extroverted "energy" I would count myself as introverted and I find it extremely tiring to be around my friends non-stop for a few days and I naturally gravitate towards solitude after to recuperate and can think of many who are similar or the polar opposite those who appear to need social contact like oxygen. If that's what you're getting at.

Just my opinion but if you're looking for something "deeper"like psychic energy or such you're probably in the wrong forum with all due respect.

@krankykitty would that include contagious yawning and reciprocating body language?

Yeah I'd recognise this. I'm an introvert and quickly get tired in company, like at a party. My husband is an extrovert and his energy levels just get higher and higher when he's around other people.

However I wouldn't think of it as 'energy exchange'. My energy depletion does not equate to the people in my company getting more energy, nor does my husband's energy take from those around him. It's a personal thing.
