JoBridge - Can you leave before end of term without benefits affected?

Can anyone else? I'm on Jobseekers benefit for last 3 months and want to take up an intern position as I need to work and don't want any gaps on my CV. Question is, if I go on an intership and it doesn't work out (or I want to do a different intership) can I leave at my own accord and still keep my JB? Or will social welfare black list me,make me apply for dole again or worst still, cut me off? I know if I ask the dole office these questions, they won't give me a staight answer.

I'm also concerned that the 40 hour working week on the internship might interfere with my real job search for a full time job. Does know if Intern companies would frown at you applying for full time jobs, heading for interviews etc, while you're working with them? I obviously mean this in the context of the intern company not having any full time positions once the 6/9 months of the internship/jobridge is finished.

I'm moving this to SB, as the benefits question is first ...

OP, your concerns about a 40 hour week getting in the way of job-hunting are well founded, some companies would frown (especailly early in the internship), some wouldn't.

That said, if you can use it to get good skills/experience it may be worth doing.

I asked this question at a Jobbridge interview I attended.

They cannot stop you from seeking permanent employment. And you have to be given time off for interviews. If this doesn't happen, then the employer can be reported.

OP. I would take the internship, and confine the job search for evenings when you're home. Give your mobile as a contact. If anyone should call you, then it should be a simple matter of taking the call in private.

Thanks for your advice... Obviously, I'd try and work around any job interviews I may get while on the internship. Thanks again

That's a sound bit of advice, thanks for that :-)
