Trickle of water in hot tap

Hi
I have checked the forum for the answer to this question.
I have a sink in my bathroom (highest point tap in house) and the hot water tap seems to have a mind of its own sometimes I get normal hot water flow other times I get a trickle in flow.In the past i have removed the tap and cleaned it, this seemed to work ok for a while.I have noticed when the immersion is on for an extended period the flow improves which would indicate possible air lock should I go the route of connecting the cold and hot tap together to remove any air.Why should there be air in the system, what is the best way of getting rid of this air permanently?.
I have a standard hot water cylinder and have both an immersion heater and gas central heating.

Thanks for any advice

I had similar problem with hot tap in sink in upstairs bathroom. I turned off all water valves in hot press and ran the hot water upstairs till water flow ceased. I then turned off the hot water tap and reopened all the valves in the hot press. turning on the hot water tap again resulted in a rush of air which cleared the blockage.

What type of tap is the hot tap? When you use the tap is there any thing else drawing hot water at the same time like a shower ? I think that it is unlikely to be an air lock.It could be that the spindle or tap washer may be on its last legs which could be causing it to stick thus not allowing the water to pass freely. It might also be sediment or limescale being drawn in from the tank restricting the flow.Do you have strainers on the spout of the taps?
