    Hi

My contract states I must give three months notice. It also states that it is only a one month notice period on the employer side.

This seems grossly unfair - but do i have any grounds to contest it. Ive handed in my notice but am wondering what if i work 1 month - what are the risks

    Thanks
    Jeremy

    Hi,
My contract is 3 months also and I have just handed in notice. I have checked it out and it seems that they can put as long as they like on the contract, there is a minimum though based on time served.
I negotiated with my employers and we agreed on 2 months. Maybe try talking to them first. Also depends on what your new employers require you to start.

At worst if you just leave after 1 month not much they can do. Suppose could take you to court but doubt they would bother. Wouldnt expect much of a reference from them though, and in current climate I wouldnt be burning any bridges.

    Good luck

    Hi again

I took a very co-operative approach. I wont be using them for a reference in the future.

Another option would be to say that you joined a competitor in which case they might want you out the door quickly. Its also easy to get a sick cert from your doctor and nothing they can do about that.

    good luck also
