Going abroad and want to take my phone but I believe it costs money if you leave the internet on whilst abroad. I want to therefore turn the internet browsing off. How do I do this guys? I don't want to be charged a fortune

Go into settings, mobile network and turn off data roaming. You can use wifi while abroad.

If using latest firmware (Icecream 4.0.3)

    Settings
    Data usage
Mobile data - switch this to off

I think it could be different on older firmware but should be in the settings menu somewhere

what the other person said works too -mine switches it off at home too

Thanks guys. So if I do that, can I still switch my wifi on when abroad?

Yes, provided there is a wifi hotspot near you (such as in a McDonalds or cafe). Just make sure mobile data and mobile data roaming are off.
