Sign-on on the Bohernabreena Road, at the junction here - http://goo.gl/maps/y58n (though the road map and the satellite photo don't match up).

This was the route last year: http://app.strava.com/segments/834665

Anyone got a link to last year's times/placings?

Too late, I realised that the HC was much earlier in the league last year. :)

Yikes, top time fell from 14:31 in 2010 to 13:22 in 2011. So we should see sub-12min this year? Mr Grieves I'm looking at you! Goal is to break the 15min barrier for moi. Or come within three minutes of Mr Grieves.

    2010 top ten:
    14:31 S
    14:36 S
    14:56 S
    15:03 S

    15:15 S
    15:16 SS
    15:17 SS
    15:18 S
    15:20 S

    2011 top ten:

Raging I can't make this week, thanks to college, damn real life getting in the way once again! Nice and humid out there today, with plenty of wind :D

That hurted. A lot. 17:10 for me apparently. Good improvement over last year (19:00)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,137 ✭✭✭buffalo

    When I left, the top three were;

    Aherne 13:13
    Billings 13:27ish
    Downey 13:45ish

I was aiming for sub-15, managed 14.01. Passed my minute man just before the turn-off, then my two minute man a little before the 4km mark I think - a Tiernan's lad who had the decency to cheer me on - chapeau sir! :) I got my three minute Lucan man down to a sprint finish, but he pipped me on the line. Delighted with that.

(I say ish - it might've been 13:29, or 13:47, but around about there)

15.53 for me I believe. That's a meagre 11 second improvement over last year - if I'm improving at a rate of something under 1 second a month then it should only take me about another 60 years or so to achieve a sub 15min time. And then I'll be able to celebrate with a nice cup of Complan. It's good to have a goal, right?

Fair play to all who gave this a lash. It may be short but it's intense!

Full credit to Orwell, they really are on the ball - full results up already! And a clean sweep across all categories this evening.

Here's a summary going back a few years (2008 excepted):

    Bohernabreena|Scratch|Semi-Scratch|Semi-Limit|Limit|Women
    2007|14:57 (Orwell)|14:49 (Lucan)|15:53 (Orwell)|17:51 (Orwell)|17:20 (Lucan)
    2008|n/a|n/a|n/a|n/a|n/a
    2009|13:44 (Lucan)|15:28 (Lucan)|15:44 (Lucan)|16:13 (Orwell)|18:14 (Lucan)
    2010|14:31 (St. Tiernan's)|15:07 (Usher)|15:32 (Orwell)|16:10 (Orwell)|17:31 (Lucan)
    2011|13:22 (Lucan)|14:48 (UCD)|13:46 (Lucan)|15:10 (Orwell)|17:35 (Lucan)
    2012|13:13 (Orwell)|14:01 (Orwell)|15:09 (Orwell)|15:51 (Orwell)|16:05 (Orwell)

I wonder if 13:13 is a new course record. And fair play to Rachel Glendon who really belted it out of the park with 16:05!

Woohoo, only 5 years to Complan then! :)

Seriously though, that's shocking, how'd I get that wrong? Must get my CV into Barclays Bank, I hear they are a haven for people with my mathematical skills.

    Man. That was hard.

I'll get my retaliation in first -my first hill climb, and I did 100k earlier today.

Still though. 16.43 was pretty crap in the grand scheme of things. Hope to see all those fine strong semi limit legs doing their turns at the front next thursday. Ahem ahem

I'll continue with my conversation with myself and congratulate me on my first "placing" 3rd LCRC and 4th sl. 15:45 on the result sheet. Don't know if that translates into points but it makes the extremely stiff legs somewhat worthwhile :-)

We'd have got away with it...if it wasn't for those meddling kids!

Hillclimbs bring out the juniors like tweenies to a Bieber concert.

I know how you feel. Looking at the many riders that passed me on the way up, it's all power to weight. I've lots of power but bucket loads of extra weight. I could stand to loose a few kilo's 5 - 6kg. Too late for this season I guess. So no Christmas pud this year.

Gastroenteritis is, er, "great" for losing weight. Despite the fact that I thought I had no weight I could lose, along came gastroenteritis a couple of months ago to prove me wrong. It's the bug that just keeps on giving. There's even a chance it won't kill you, despite it feeling like it's doing just that. There must surely be a niche in the dieting market that it could readily fill ...over and over again in fact.
