NCT and warning light on dash

I've had a warning light on my dash the last few months. It's the emissions sensor (or o2/lambda sensor).
Anyway I've had it looked at in a service 4 months ago, guy said the car was fine, said I could change the lambda sensor and light would go away, but there was no problem with emissions.
I had it in with a garage last week also, and they did a pre-nct test and said emissions and everything were fine. They managed to get the warning light turned off, but it came back the next day!

So I haven't replaced the sensor, and the warning light is still on.
But I was told the emissions were fine so shouldn't actually fail any of the NCT checks.

Just wondering is there an automatic fail if a dash warning light is shown?

Looking on the NCT site, the new changes in 2010 include a fail if specific dash warning lights are on, ECS, EBS, ABS. But they only mention certain lights so I'm hoping I should be ok?

    Thanks

As far as I know, any warning light on a dash is fail. Warning light on my car for air bag, it was the sensor in passenger seat belt buckle. Had to replace it before test.

Not necessarily. I had a warning light on mine for the camshaft sensor and passed no problem

Yeah so it looks like they only care about airbag and braking warning lights. ABS is listed as an auto fail here http://www.ncts.ie/images/NCT_DL.jpg

NCT checks only for safety system warning lights. TC/ABS/seat-belt/airbag etc...

My father's Polo passed with the engine management light on (1.4 petrol), I was convinced it would fail on emissions but it was fine. Failed on roll bar bushes instead

    Mine is on too!

First time I saw it I panicked; straight to a garage. The man disconnected a battery lead for a minute, reconnected it and fine.. Showed me how to do it. Needless to dsay I cannot remember but it comes back on all the time.

Told the man re this at the pre-NCT check today...

It was on when we bought it, neighbour has a Vagcom and cleared loads of historical faults off it. Came on again shortly after but never got back to him to see what the current faults were, has a slight misfire at idle and I was convinced it would fail on emissions. Put it in to NCT to see what figures would come up but it passed emissions test (just!)

Will get the faults read and sort the problem but if you look at VW forums, lots just ignore it!
