Alright guys.. making the jump from console to PCI dont have a budget per se, I wont be buying everything in one go.. we just had a baby so Ive been TOLD that if I want one, I'll have to sell some of my other gadgets to help pay for it etc1. What is your budget? -- Say about £800? (im in the UK)2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? -- Gaming with some video editing, not too heavy. Must be able to play BF3.. not neccessarily on ULTRA settings, but good enough3. Do you need a copy of Windows? -- No4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? -- No5. Do you need a monitor? -- I have a spare 32inch HD Samsung that I could use in the meantime until I get a monitor, so not ESSENTIAL at start6. Do you need any of these peripherals? -- Will get all these seperately, but Wireless would be required7. Are you willing to try overclocking? -- No, dont know much about it so not at the moment8. How can you pay? -- Credit Card/Paypal9. When are you purchasing? -- Over the next couple of months10. If you need help building it, where are you based? -- Will get help from Youtube or else I will throw a tantrum and refuse to complete it :)Thanks in advance guys, cant wait to get started!

Should be able to take everything you throw at it and is within your budget. Not sure what the delivery cost to the UK will be though. You might want to check UK sites to compare costs. Amazon, scan, overclockers and dabs. Probably more but if you read the stickies i think there is a list of all the retailers plus where they are based.

Since you are only doing light video editing I don't think the hyperthreading is worth the extra cost.
The graphics card is really good. Not the best of the best but definitely best performance vs. cost., but will play BF3 on ultra anyway.

Case is loved around here. It is cheap and your wires won't get messy due to the wire routing system... Speaking of wires, I forgot the PSU -_- Fixed that now.

8-gb ram is enough for general use. Can upgrade to 16gb later if necessary.

Standard optical drive for installing stuff.

Hard drives are the interesting part. I have a 64gb ssd in there for booting windows and putting a few games on that you are playing at the moment. The 2tb is for bulk storage. I haven't put much research into the bulk harddrive but it should be grand. There is a free program called steam mover or something like that which can move your games between the ssd and HD. The ssd will give you blisteringly fast loading times and boot-up/down times.

Motherboard seems to be liked around here. Others might be able to suggest better/cheaper versions.

update guys.. I am now a PC gamer! writing this at work so the post format will be messed up for some reason but.. I got a white Phantom 410 case, i5 2500k, Sapphire 7850, Gigabyte Z77 DS3H, 8gb Gskill, 500w OZC, 500gb H/D (had a 320gb old one aswell - will this connect to MB via any sata cable?) and a 1080p Benq monitor. Total cost around £850. LOVING IT! well impressed and will never look back!
