Friend found with drugs?

Hi Guys, I'm not sure wether this is the place to put this? Anyway I was giving my mate a lift into town yesterday as I picked him up and drove down the road the local gardai pulled us over.. Long story short my mate had a tiny bit of weed on him. The searched the rest of the car, found nothing, They took down his name, address and let us on our way..

Today I was in the car and driving through lucan when all of a sudden 2 gardai pull me over (2 different gardai from different station) They went through the usual stuff name, address, insurance ect ect and checked it all over the radio..

Just as he gets back in his car he says to me ''are you the lad that was caught with a bit of stuff the other day'' Now I can't understand how he knew that as he is stationed somewhere else and this is the first time I have ever spoken to the man..

I have no criminal convictions and have nothing to do with drugs or anything so he couldnt have got it from a name check.. So i'm thinking could they have put a warning on my car reg or somthing? saying it was carryin drugs?

Drugs were found when your car was pulled over.
It would make logical sense that your details are posted up, no?

any reg. check on your car by gardai will automatically show that drugs were found on someone in that car.
because thats true!

lots of people have bought cars and found themselves stopped by gardai because of things that happened before they owned it.

theres not much that you can do OP, maybe just say to the next Garda that stops you that you were not aware your buddy had drugs on him.
just be polite and dont confront the guard and you should be ok!

i also hope that you make it very clear to your friend not to carry anything with him again, should you give him a lift.

It's probably one of those Garda cars with the anpr camera which would have automatically associated your registration with the drug find.

Maybe go to your local station to see if they can check the status on their pulse system.

See I only bought the car the other week and the seller (a good friend) just gave me the logbook so the car isnt even in my name yet.. I sent the book off today so will it be still marked as it goes in my name?

What's puzzling me is why your car got pulled in initially? I'm driving since Jedward were in nappies and the most any guard has ever done to me was look at my tyres and tax/insurance discs.

I stand to be corrected but I think the Gardai go on the reg number of the car rather on the driver, perhaps the guy you bought the car from has some sort of a criminal record?, best advice is to get rid of the car and buy another one.

Because you were stopped and drugs were found, you and your Reg will now be forever associated with drugs on the PULSE system. Everything goes on PULSE and stays there. Even if a Garda thinks you're acting suspiciously and looks you up but doesn't actually stop you, any road offences, any legal trouble you have. All available to any Garda who looks up you or your car. Don't be surprised if you get stopped and searched a lot more from now on.

That can't be right? even though it was my car I had nothing to do with the drugs that was found? so your saying from now on even if i get rid of the car my name would come up as ''found with drugs'' when they checked my name?

I'm quite a young driver and to be honest most night I do be out a little late as my friends and I go out in my car most nights for a few hours. Because of this I do get a lot of attention from the local garda.

I think you're worrying overly. Just don't carry contraband with you in your car and you'll be fine. They might pull you over more often now but so what if you've nothing on you? I think selling the car is way OTT.

To be honest the very odd night I have, But that would be somewhere quiet like in a factory where noone is about.. I always just assumbed the reason I was gettin pulled over because the was car packed full of lads out till all hours lol
