Chairman of YouView, Lord Sugar described the launch as a 'great moment in British television'. Lord Sugar and Richard Halton, CEO of YouView confirmed the box will be available from major retailers including John Lewis, Amazon and Argos by the end of the month. The box will be priced at around £299.



Lord Sugar said: "It’s with great pleasure that we announce that YouView will be available from major retailers later this month."

"Our intention with this simple–to-use box is to provide extraordinary TV for everyone, with on-demand services combined with TV channels with an opportunity to search back an entire week to catch what they’ve missed. It’s a whole new way of experiencing TV."

YouView provides subscription-free digital TV and catch-up services with the backing of BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, BT and TalkTalk. It will offer more than 100 digital TV and radio stations as well as access to services like BBC iPlayer and 4OD.

An innovative electronic programme guide (EPG) that allows users to scroll back a maximum of seven days to catch-up on programmes they’ve missed. Users can also record, pause and rewind live TV.

YouView will be available either from retailers, with no further subscription fee, or from an internet service provider (ISP) as part of a phone and broadband package.

I would doubt it as it is Freeview and internet based.

Yeah, its not Satellite at all so it doesn't belong in this forum - there's a YouView thread in Cable/MMDS/IPTV where you can discuss it.
