Zipp 900 bearings

The bearings on my Zipp 900 disc were running rough so I left it into my LBS to get them replaced.

Now that they are back they aren't spinning as expected. Not rough, just not for long even though I have loosened the load.

How long should a Zipp 900 disc spin for when spun by hand with a reasonable force - in the direction that spins the freewheel too.

what bearings did you get put in? it depends on how full of grease they are, some are 90%, others are higher, some have low contact seals, others full contact. also its not always an accurate way of measuring rolling resistance by spinning a wheel in a stationary position, under load the bearings act differently.

if you spin the wheel in your hands do you feel any binding or does it feel perfectly smooth?

It feels mostly smooth but not right.

Stripped the hub down this morning and it appears the LBS did not change the bearings between the freewheel and the hub body - just the visible ones on the outside. getting another shop to look at it today.

    Thanks for the info

Also I don't have a rubber mallet or any of the tools required to get the bearings out

So basically knock the bearings out yourself, bring them to them and they can tell what you need?

    High quality bearings?

i ve done both my power taps and 5000km on both with SKF's and they are still sliky smooth, the crap that came with the powertaps lasts about 2000km

you can use a quickrelease and some washers as a press, its not a very tight interference fit

when you close the quick release it will push the bearings in , you should be able to find vidoes on youtube, or else if your banging them in you have to only put pressure on the outer race diamater
